James Ovie Rice, Jr. 81 of Allendale, SC passed away on December 11, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at one o’clock p.m., on Saturday, February 21, 2026 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Eileen Gunnells officiating.
Born in Greenville, SC he was a son of the late James Ovie Rice, Sr. and Bertie Motts Rice and was married to the late Reba Gail Nations Rice. He pastored Bells Pentecostal Holiness Church for 32 years and worked for the Town of Fairfax for over 40 years until his retirement as the water superintendent. He was artistic and a collector of copper parts and wood; he would make masterpieces out of his collections. He was a very giving person and loved doing for others. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his daughter, Amanda D. Rice of Brunson, SC; sons, James O. (Shari) Rice, III of Bronson, FL, Michael T. (Canaan) Rice of Hilda, SC; grandchildren, Travis J. (Reilly) Rice, Joshua Jameson Rice, Mackenzie (Hughes) Thieman, Jonathan Hair, Joseph Hair, and Jacob Hair; great grandson, Chance Maddox; a sister, Azelia Walden of Greenville, SC; and a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Faye Bloodworth and Clara Allen along with his brothers, Guy Rice and Robert Rice.
