James Etheridge Kennedy

James Etheridge Kennedy, 85, of Barnwell, SC passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. No formal services are planned at this time.

Born April 14, 1940 in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late Florrie Mae Sanders Kennedy and James Robert Kennedy. He was a homebody who loved to spend his time watching westerns.

Survivors include his daughter, Jenny Kennedy of TN; a son, William Bobby Kennedy of GA; a sister, Sandy Lewis of FL and a brother, Jesse Kennedy of GA.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two sons, Richard Kennedy and James Etheredge Kennedy, Jr.; two sisters, Carolyn J. Tanner, Joanne Kennedy Owens and Joyce E. Kennedy and his brother Thomas J. Kennedy.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Crescent Hospice, Ms. Bernadette F., Ms. Liana Lawrence, Ms. Keiosha Hamilton, Chaplin Craig Peeples and Reverend Eileen Gunnells for all of the help and prayers that they have shown James. Also, a special thank you to his two nieces, Ann Owens and Deborah Harmon and his great niece Patrice Chavis for being available during his time of need.
