James Michael Harvey, 49, of Orangeburg, SC passed away on Saturday, December 7, 2024. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock p.m. Thursday December 12, 2024, at Folk Funeral Home Chapel in Denmark; burial will follow in the Starr Cemetery in Olar. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Denmark. Honored to serve as pallbearers are Eddie Chesser, Johnnie Crider, Hunter Garland, Blaine Harvey, Brian Harvey, Leo Roberts, Carsten Steiner, and Jeff Warsick, and an honorary pallbearer Jerry Billings. Memorial contributions may be given to Edisto Shrine Club C/O Jim Gates P.O. Box 831, Orangeburg, SC 29116.
Mike was born in Bamberg, SC. He was the son of the late Charles Alvin Harvey and Frances Elizabeth Chesser. James trained at OCTC to further his knowledge for his career as a maintenance supervisor at Whitman Mold. Mike loved football and was a huge fan of the Carolina Gamecocks and the Miami Dolphins. However, his greatest love was his family. His children and grandchildren were his life’s greatest gift. He will be missed dearly.
Survivors include his girlfriend of the home, Mary Ann Gable of Orangeburg; a daughter, Karen Blaire Harvey of Cordova and a step daughter, Bethany Johnson of Swansea; a son Tristan Michael Harvey (Ashley Barnes) of Clinton, and a step son, Christopher “Billy Bob” Gable of Orangeburg; granddaughters, Bailee Sheppard and Addilyn Sheppard; sisters, Connie (Michael) Carson of Orangeburg, Kim (Paul) Wooden of FL; a brother, Gerald (Angela) Harvey of Olar; brother in law Thurmond Daniels of NC; Jessica Williamson of Cordova, mother of Tristan and Blaire and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased in death by sisters, Debbie Harvey, Pam Daniels, Michelle Barnes and Karen Ann Harvey McLane; brothers Beryl Glenn Harvey and Alvin Ray Harvey; and a brother in law Richard McLane
