James Griffith Obituary

Funeral services for James Monroe Griffith, 93, of Williston, SC will be held three o’clock p.m., Sunday, December 16, 2018 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverends Steve Burnett and David Richardson officiating; burial will be in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williston First Baptist Church, Elevator Fund, P.O. Box 366, Williston, SC 29853. Mr. James passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018.

Born in Elmore County, AL, he was a son of the late Andrew Milton Griffith and Beatrice Jones Griffith. He was a member of Williston First Baptist Church where he was a deacon and previously served as chairman of the deacon board for two terms, served on the Pastor Search Committee two sessions, taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. He worked for E.I. DuPont and retired from SRS as a Senior Control Room Supervisor in the Reactor Department. He was a member of Hope Masonic Lodge # 126 and was a World War II Navy Veteran. Mr. James loved to golf, fish and travel; he enjoyed spending time with his family especially on beach vacations.

Survivors include his loving wife of 74 years Mary Jordan Griffith; his daughters Maria Griffith and Linda Holliday of Columbia; a son and daughter-in-law Larry and Camille Griffith of Fayetteville, GA; grandchildren Amanda (Robert) Clemson of Florence, SC. Natalie (Richard) Robichaux of San Diego, CA; great grandchildren Jackson and Charles Clemson, August and Vivienne Robichaux; sister-in-law Betty Couch of Pensacola, FL; nephew Jordan (Tammy) Couch of Pensacola, FL and a niece Paula (Coby) Griffith of Tallassee, AL.

He was preceded in death by a brother Webster Harold Griffith.

The family would like to thank the staff of Rice Estates and the Remain at Home Healthcare staff for their kindness and care shown to them during the past few months.
