A graveside funeral service for James Lewis Campbell, 74, of Williston, SC will be eleven o’clock a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2021 at Ashleigh Baptist Church Cemetery with the Reverend Joe Wilburn officiating. Memorials may be given to the Barnwell County Animal Shelter Foundation, P.O. Box 1009, Barnwell, SC 29812. James passed away on February 11, 2021.
Born in Bamberg, SC, he was a son of the late Horace Campbell and Ruby Clara Hutson Campbell. James was married to the love of his life, Margie Campbell, for fifty-one years. One year has passed since Margie’s stroke changed their lives in February of 2020; COVID-19 made it worse. Margie and James were unable to visit one another, hug, touch, or simply say “I love you.” The love of his life passed on July 14, 2020 of COVID-19; she has been waiting to say “I Love You.” James retired from the city of Barnwell where “he helped keep the streets beautiful.” He was a member of Ashleigh Baptist Church. James loved to go camping, fishing, and playing cards with his family.
Survivors include his daughter Tina R. Rigdon and her fiancé George Black of Blackville; his sisters Betty Campbell Cook of Barnwell and Carolyn Dyches Still of Blackville; his grandog Maverick and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Jimmy Dyches and Larry Campbell and his brothers-in-law Frank Cook and Freddie Still.
