Jackie (Bessinger) Harter

A Celebration of Life Service for Jackie Lee Bessinger Harter, 72, of Olar, SC will be held at six o’clock p.m., Saturday, March 11, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Denmark, SC with the Reverend Charles Mosier officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Jackie passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

Jackie was a daughter of Jerome L. Bessinger and Girdie Hair Bessinger. She was first married to the late Claude McCormick and was the widow of Joe Harter. Jackie was a member of Springtown Baptist Church, Bamberg, SC. She loved going to yard sales, fishing, sewing, and working in her yards. She was affectionately known as Banda, Nana, and GiGi by her grands and great-grands and she loved spending time with them. She had a lively personality and will be missed by all who loved her.

Survivors include her son, Chris (Lesia) McCormick of Ehrhardt, SC; her daughter, Susan McCormick Snipes (Jim Kinsey) of Olar, SC; a sister, Barbara A. Stewart of Augusta, GA; grandchildren, Ashley (Wayne) Fail and their children, Maelynn and Noah, Brett McCormick and Jesse (Sarah) Snipes and their son, Cayden and a sister-in-law, Brenda Bessinger.

She was preceded in death by her siblings, Alice F. McKuhen, Dorothy G. Reed, Floyd Clemson Bessinger, Robert Bessinger, and Rhett Bessinger.
