A Celebration of Eternal Life for J. Robert “Doug” Douglas, Jr., 78 of Springfield, SC will be held on Sunday January 11, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. until 6:30 p.m at the Springfield Methodist Church, Good LORD willing.
Born in Orangeburg, SC he was the youngest son of the late Julian Robert Douglas Sr. and Bessie (Mammie) Lee Hutto Douglas. Doug worked in construction for several years, owned Douglas Tree Service and Douglas Sawmill in Springfield, SC. He has supplied lumber being used throughout the country, including George Washington’s Mt. Vernon. He had an altruistic spirit, donating to Native American charities, St. Jude’s Children Hospital, Disabled Veterans, SCV, and many others. Even gifting the lumber to build Douglas Mercantile at the Battle of Aiken Grounds.
Survivors include his children, Charlotte “Charlee” (Lonnie) Ratliff, Kirk (Carolyn) Douglas, Julie Martin and Casey (Crystal) Douglas; his grandchildren, Colby Ratliff, Caleb Ratliff, Connor Martin, and Jessie Martin; two brothers, Tommy Douglas and Michael “Mickey” (Nona) Douglas, nieces and nephews, Mark Dyches, Tony (Patty) Douglas, Steve (Stephanie) Douglas and Dawn (Ben) Kumangai and numerous great nieces and nephews. Proceeding him to the presence of our LORD, his brother Wade Douglas, SIL Peggy Douglas, nephews, Keith Douglas, Robert Douglas, and Mark Elam.
