Glennon Wade, age 85, passed into the presence of God on March 24, 2026, in Kissimmee, Florida. He was born on March 19, 1941, in Blackville, South Carolina.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Willis Wade Sr. and Lillian Abestene Wade; his beloved wife, Cecile Morse Wade; and his brothers, Willis Preston Wade and Clayton “Buddy” Wade.
Glennon is survived by his brother, Robert (Marie) Wade of White House, Tennessee; and his sister, Linda (J.D.) Russell of Castalian Springs, Tennessee. He also leaves behind his children, Donald A. (Susi) Wade and Jerry G. (Lisa) Young, and his stepdaughter, Elizabeth (Eddie) Cravens. He also leaves behind several grandchildren, especially Patrick Young, who held a special place in his heart.
Glennon was a passionate motorcycling enthusiast whose love of speed led him into motorcycle drag racing in the Pro Stock class, where his dedication and talent earned him a sixth-place national ranking. He was highly mechanically inclined and took great pride in building racing engines, as well as restoring and working on his cherished 1966 Chevy Chevelle.
A man defined by hard work and perseverance, Glennon went on to become the owner of Wade & Associates Utilities Contracting. Prior to that, he worked as a welder for DuPont and owned Wade’s Backhoe Services. His skill and craftsmanship was also evident in his role in building Rivergate Calvary Assembly of God in Nashville, Tennessee.
Glennon loved country music and thoroughly enjoyed the timeless songs of Buddy Holly. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his faith, his passion for engines and racing, and the deep love he had for his family.
On this 24th day in March, our dad, brother, and grandfather stopped hearing the music of this world, and it was replaced by songs from angels and the voice of our Lord saying, “Welcome Home.”
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 30, 2026 in the Blackville Cemetery with Dr. Thomas Terry officiating.
