A Celebration of Life for Glenn Edward Owens, 68, of Blackville, SC will be held at one o’clock p.m., Thursday, January 21, 2021 at the Blackville First Baptist Church with the Reverend Ken Frederick officiating. Glenn passed away of natural causes on Thursday, January 14, 2021. Due to the current pandemic and the CDC regulations, social distancing and other guidelines will be in place; facemasks are required.
Born in Bamberg County, SC, he was a son of the late Reverend Harold Smith Owens and Myrtis Baxley Owens. He was a member of the Blackville First Baptist Church where he loved singing in the choir and previously served as a deacon. Glenn graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Political Science and retired from the U. S. Postal Service. His grandchildren were his greatest joy; they affectionately called him “Metro”. Win or lose, Glenn’s love for the Carolina Gamecocks never faltered.
Survivors include his daughters, Claire Owens and Emily (Stephen) Askew, all of Lexington and Megan Owens of Blackville; his grandchildren Beckett, Tinsley and Mason; his brothers Harold Etheriedge (Cathy) Owens, Paul Allen (Joni) Owens, and Carlton Lynn (Debbie) Owens, all of Blackville and Larry Joseph Owens of Williston along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Memorial contributions may be given to the South Carolina Wildlife Law Enforcement Officers Association (scwleoa.com or Post Office Box 1424, Columbia, SC 29202).
