Funeral services for Glendora Humphries McElveen, 79, of Barnwell, SC will be held at eleven a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend David Turner and Chaplain Linda Miller officiating. Graveside service will follow four p.m. at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, Sumter, SC with the Pastor Bobby Floyd and Reverend Myers Graham officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 18th from five to seven p.m. at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Rhonda McElveen Scholarship, c/o Tri-County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 160, Barnwell, SC 29812. Mrs. Glendora passed away at her home on Wednesday, June 16, 2021.
Born in Prospect, SC, she was a daughter of the late Wardie Huggins Humphries and Mildred Hannah Humphries; she was the widow of the late Kenneth LaRue McElveen. In 1969, she received her LPN license from Sumter County Career Center and in 1972, she graduated from USC-Aiken as a registered nurse. She worked for Barnwell County Hospital, Allied General Nuclear Services and retired from the Allendale County Hospital.
Survivors include her children, the Honorable Barnwell County Clerk of Court Rhonda McElveen of Barnwell and Wanda McElveen (Barry) Taylor of Blythewood.
She was preceded in death by her sisters Alberta Calcutt and Dorothy Jeffcoat; her brothers Norman Humphries, Charles Humphries, LaFay Humphries and Thomas Humphries.
