Gertrude (Wells) Croft

Funeral services for Gertrude Wells Croft, 77, of Blackville, SC will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with her brother, George Wells officiating; burial will follow in the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honors Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105. Gertrude passed away at home on Thursday, September 28, 2023.

Born in Blackville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wells, Sr. and Bertha Mae Proctor Wells and was married to David Daniel “Dan” Croft. She was a member of Healing Springs Baptist Church and owned and operated Gert’s Hair Salon for many years. She loved her children and grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. Gertrude loved “loving on” people and always enjoyed shopping.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Dan Croft; her children, Dana (Mike) Barker of Barnwell, SC, Burt (Brittany) Croft of Blackville, SC, and Danny Croft, Jr. of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Greg Barker and Sawyer, Willow, and Beau Croft; special and caring sister and brother, Elsie Porter of Lexington, SC and George (Linda Kaye) Wells of Barnwell, SC; her special friends, Barbara Still, Shirley Widener, Kitty Sandifer, and Rose Miller along with a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd Wells and Robert Wells, Jr.
