Funeral services for George Gary Bell, 88, of Williston, SC will be held four p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at the First Baptist Church of Barnwell, with Doctor T. Bart Kelley officiating. Burial will be at Barnwell Memorial Park Cemetery by the airport with military honors accorded by the Barnwell County Leathernecks Marine Corp League Detachment 1227. Pallbearers are Andrew Livingston Bell, Zachary Taylor Holcomb, Alexander Lee Kniffin, Hal Rutland, Bo Bell, Chesley Bell, Dalton Bell. The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. immediately before the funeral service at the First Baptist Church. Mr. Bell was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He passed away at his home on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
Born in Barnwell County, he was the son of the late Colie Livingston Bell and Nadine Richardson Bell. He was married to the late Barbara Handberry Bell for 54 years. He retired as a Master Sergeant after 20 years of service in the United States Air Force and then also retired after 17.5 years of service at the Savannah River Site as a First Line Supervisor in the Waste Management organization. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barnwell where he taught a 5th/6th grade Sunday School class for many, many years and was also named as a Deacon Emeritus.
Survivors include his son, Charlton Brett (Leslie) Bell of Barnwell; daughter, Sabrina Bell (Marc) Kniffin of Harrisburg, NC; sister, Sandra Bell Campbell of DeSoto, Texas; grandchildren, Andrew Livingston Bell, Zachary Taylor Holcomb, and Alexander Lee Kniffin (fiancé - Allison May de la Vega); a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by sisters Glenda Bell Rutland Martin and June Bell Johnson.
