Gail Marie (Douglas) Boyd

Funeral Services for SSgt. Gail Marie Boyd, USA, Ret., 72, of Springfield, SC will be held two o’clock p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Timothy Barr officiating; burial will follow at the Springfield Cemetery. The family will receive friends and family from six until eight p.m. Monday, December 27, 2021 at the funeral home in Williston. Gail passed away on Saturday, December 25, 2021.

Born in Sendai, Honshu, Japan She was a daughter of the late Lawdy Douglas and Cordie Marie Slagle Douglas. Gail was a US Army veteran, retiring as an Administrative Specialist. She was a member of Dean Swamp Baptist Church and was a member of the American Legion Post #172, Columbia, SC. Gail’s favorite accomplishment was being a mother and a “MawMaw”, she enjoyed life to the fullest, loved listening to music, traveling to the mountains and was an avid on-line shopper.  

Survivors include her husband Richard Lee “Dickie” Boyd, Sr. of the home; a son Shane (Shannon) Robinson of Charleston; a daughter Jody Boyd of Swansea; her grandchildren Jayla Kay Boyd and Jackson Lee Boyd; a sister Holly (Jason) Exum of Roanoke, Alabama; nieces and nephews Jestin Gosdin, Ashley (Grant) Culbertson, Eddie Howard, Penny Ivylynn Exum, Allen Exum and Sebastain Exum.

She was preceded in death by a son Richard Lee Boyd, Jr.; her sister Teresa Leatherwood and a sister-in-law Cathie Boyd Fogle.
