Faye Bell Obituary

Faye Evans Bell, 88, widow of Samuel George Bell, Sr. died peacefully Sunday, October 14, 2018. She was the daughter of Charlie Hubert and Lucile Kitchins Evans of Bushnell, Florida.

Born in Wrightsville, Georgia, Faye moved to Denmark, SC after marrying the love of her life. Denmark was home for over 65 years before she moved to Presbyterian Communities in Lexington, SC to be near her family. Faye worked with Southern Bell as a switchboard operator until leaving to be home with her children and handle the books for her husband’s business. Her church and church family were very important to her. She served faithfully in various ministries at Bethel Park United Methodist Church.

Faye always had beautiful flower beds. Her green thumb could coax plants that looked destined for the trash into full bloom. After years of considering golf to be a waste of a good afternoon, Faye and Sam were bitten by the bug and could be found on a course every opportunity they had. She soon discovered that she was good at it, winning club championships on her home course and recording a hole-in-one. She continued to participate in the Lower State Ladies Golf Association, playing courses across the state and often coming home with awards. Faye loved sports, especially her Clemson Tigers and Atlanta Braves.

She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Samuel George Bell, Jr.; her parents; sisters, Frances Stinson, Mattie Lou Thomas; brothers, Ralph Evans and William Roy Evans.

Surviving are her daughter, Kathy Bell Gee (Charles) of Lexington and son, Mac Bell (Pam) of Chapin; grandsons, Jeff Gee (Kristin), Chris Gee (Megan Hefner), Ryan, Eric and Harrison Bell and three great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the residents and staff of Presbyterian Communities for making Faye feel welcome during her time there. Special thanks are extended to the staff of Cassels Health and Rehabilitation and Tidewater Hospice for their genuine and heartfelt care.

Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Bethel Park United Methodist Church in Denmark, SC with the Reverend Terry Roof officiating; burial will be held in the Bamberg County Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall beginning at 1 pm. Folk Funeral Home will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel Park United Methodist Church, 25 Beech St., Denmark, SC 29042 or to a charity of one’s choice.
