George “Etheredge” Hutson, Sr., 87, of Blackville, SC passed peacefully from this life on the afternoon of August 27, 2023 after a gradual decline in his health. He was surrounded and continuously supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late George Dewey Hutson and Lou Ellen Rowell Hutson. Etheredge was born and raised in the south where farming was his life. After raising two sons and one daughter, Etheredge continued to live his life doing what he knew to do best.
Etheredge is survived by his spouse, Marie “Mary Ann” Hutson; his son, George Etheredge (Maria “Dolly”) Hutson, Jr.; his daughter, Ginger (Frank); grandchildren, Katrina Hutson and Richard Hutson and two great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Bobby, Deacon, and Frankie as well as his sister, Geraldine.
He was preceded in death by a son, Allen Jerome “Studd” Hutson, his brothers, O’Neal, Emory and Mailon along with his sister, Carrie Nell.
Funeral services will be held at three o’clock p.m., Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Ray Hutto officiating; burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery. There will be no home visitation during the week and the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday.
