Emma Lara Walta, 78, of Barnwell, SC passed away on Saturday, November 23, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
A service celebrating Emma’s life will be held at a later date.
Born in Anniston, AL she was a daughter to the late Wise Blitchington and Nellie Christine Lett Blitchington. Emma was formally a waitress for many years and was a member of Green Branch Pentecostal Holiness Church. She was a Gamecock fan, enjoyed going to yard sales, collecting teddy bears and was an Elvis fan. Emma would dress up like Elvis and would visit local nursing homes. Emma was a people person and never met a stranger. She loved her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren very much.
Survivors include her daughters, Tammy (Joey) Gunnells of Barnwell, Brenda Corley of Barnwell; a son Richard Walta, Jr. of Barnwell; sisters Nancy Sansbury, Christy (William) Orr of Blythewood; brothers, Michael Blitchington of Columbia, and Billy Orr of Conway; grandchildren, Tiffany, Cliff, Joshua, Lacie, Elexis, Ridge and Mary Lee and 12 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is predeceased in death by a sister Betty Jo Morris and Mickie Deason.
