Elizabeth "Lizzie" Hutson Obituary

A celebration of the life of Elizabeth (“Lizzie”) Williams Hutson will be held at three p.m. on Friday, February 9, 2024 at the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Donald Prevatt officiating. The family will receive friends from two p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Friday. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (by the airport).

Lizzie lived a rich and full life; not necessarily rich in money, but exceedingly rich in love for God, family and her country. She was the older sister to 8 siblings, wife to O’Neal (deceased) and mother to five very special children: Shirley (Don) Prevatt, Lucy (Hal, deceased) Blackwell, Joe Hutson, Everett (Margaret) Hutson , Teresa (Jerry) Lewis. Also, she was the grandmother of  Carol (Craig) Faircloth, Preston (Tina) Prevatt, Betty Jane (Mike) Mata, Janicea Blackwell, Amy (Jared) Lynn, Amanda (Alan) Castleberry, Neal Hutson, Michael Hutson, Melissa (Matthew) Rhoad, Daniel Lewis and Nathan Lewis; great-grandchildren, Robin (Cody) Meggs, Adam Knight, Austin Prevatt (Chelsie), Tiffany (Dillon) Clanton, Hudson Prevatt (Endsley), Kaytlyn Prevatt, Storm (Devin) Bass, John Anderson, Jessica (Jacob) Bachyrycz, Jennifer Anderson, Bryson Lynn, Ellis Lynn, Preston (Kosuzu) Lovely, Brenton Lovely (Jasmin),  Alan James “A.J.” Castleberry, Rhett Hutson (Hope), Holston Hutson, Averly Hutson, Chandler (Sara) Hutson, Haley Rhoad and Allison Hutson and numerous great-great grandchildren; her sisters, Betty W. Still, Mildred H. (Robert) Still and Joann (George) Still; a brother, Donnie (Dale) Williams and numerous other family members she loved dearly, but just as important, she was a friend to those in need.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Charlie “Son” Williams, Manuel “Tank” Williams and Elbert Williams; a sister, Dorothy “Toot” Grubbs; a grandson, Bryan Blackwell and a great-granddaughter, Shelby Lovely.

She lived well beyond the “three-score and ten and, if by reason of strength four score” years allotted in Scripture. They were not just years, but well-lived years. As a farmer’s wife, she experienced firsthand the miracle of new life from seeds, as well as the anxiety and frustration of bringing a crop in—all through the eyes of an unfaltering faith in the God who gives life and sustains it.

Her greatest delight was in her children and their offspring. Thanksgiving was an indescribable event for her. All the children and their children would gather for the annual event. After two or three days together, everyone went home with full stomachs, full hearts and something from “Lizzie’s” freezer while making plans for next year.

All that “Lizzie” accomplished in life was the fruit of a very strong faith in the God who gave her the “new birth” and guided her through life. Her heart’s cry today is for you to meet her in heaven. There’s room at the Cross for you.
