Funeral services for Eldean Neeley, 90, of Montmorenci, SC will be held at one o’clock p.m., Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Spring Branch Baptist Church with the Reverend Tim Webb and Reverend John Wade, III officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be sent to P.O. Box 72, Montmorenci, SC 29839. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Mr. Eldean passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024.
Born in Tyler, TX, he was the son of the late Wallace Henry Neeley and Annie May Philips Neeley and was married to the late Frances Corley Neeley for 49 years. He retired from Aiken Postal Service after working for 36 years. He was a member of Spring Branch Baptist Church. He loved playing the steel guitar and played with a number of bands including the Leon Everette Band; he also previously played the steel guitar in church. Mr. Neeley loved music especially gospel and country music. He was a US Army Veteran.
Survivors include his daughters, Janet Marie Wood and Julia Lynn Neeley both of Montmorenci, SC; his sons, Ronnie Leon Wood of Montmorenci, SC, Gene Ray (Sandra) Wood, Sr. of Windsor, SC, and Elbert “Bo” (Ida) Neeley of Beech Island, SC; grandchildren, Gene Ray Wood, Jr. and Angel Lynn Wood.
In addition to his wife, Frances Neeley, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Hester Mae Dotson and Edna Fay Neeley and brother-in-law, Howard (Ruby) Davlin.
