A Visitation for Edward Douglas Tilley, 82, of Beech Island, SC will be held from six to eight p.m., Wednesday, April 5, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. A Graveside Service will be held a one o'clock p.m., Saturday, May 20, 2023 at the Williston Cemetery. Contributions may be given in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 200 Center Point Circle, #100 Columbia, SC 29210 or Tiny House Project for Homeless Vets, P.O. Box 8936, Savannah, GA 31412. Mr. Tilley passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.
Born in Maryville, TN, he was a son of the late Howard Jackson Tilley and Dorothy Bell Lillard Tilley. He retired from U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer having served during Vietnam; he worked as a Chief Engineman with the Combat Craft Crewman. After his retirement in 1978, he owned and operated the Home & Auto Supply in Jackson, SC for 20 years and was an Industrial Maintenance Instructor at Aiken Technical College for 4 years. He was an avid lover of classic cars.
Survivors include his daughters, Faith Anna T. (Michael “Mick”) Baker of Brooklet, GA, Barbara Hope Tilley of Savannah, GA, Dorothy Michelle T. (Mike) Hess of Jackson, SC, Carmen Leah T. Lowe (David Peters) of Nahunta, GA, and Tonya Michelle T. (Rob) Nickols of California, KY; grandchildren, Candace (Billy) Myrick, Jesse Baker, and Cassidy (Joshua) Hess; great grandchildren, Dalton and Lakeland Myrick; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his son, John Milton Tilley and brothers, Michael Jack Tilley and Randy Carl Tilley.
