Funeral Services for Charles Edward “Ed” McCormick, Jr., 69, of Blackville, SC will be held at eleven o’clock Friday, January 10, 2025 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverends Ken Frederick and John Jerkins officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the chapel. A private family burial will follow at the Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery. The family has asked that memorials be made to Unity Baptist Church, 5504 Hilda Rd., Blackville, SC 29817.
The family would like to thank Susan Sandifer, Kelly Lyons and all other nurses and staff at Agape Hospice for the care and love shown to them.
Pallbearers will be Kevin McCormick, Michael Peters, Geoffrey Peters, B Huggins, Houston Towne and Johnny Jones. Honorary Pallbearers are Todd Bennett, Michael Bennett, Cliff Hollinsworth and Harry Quattlebaum.
Born in Orangeburg County, SC he was a son of the late Charlie and Kitty McCormick and was married to Deborah Purvis McCormick. He was a member of Unity Baptist Church in Blackville, SC and was self-employed having owned/operated Denmark Furniture Company for a number of years. Ed loved antiques and enjoyed “tinkering” with antique radios and televisions. Ed also loved 1950’s Chevrolet cars. During his high school years, he worked at WBAW Night Radio. He loved his dog, Maxeen.
Survivors include his loving wife of 44 years, Deborah; a brother, Tim (Katie) McCormick; his sister, Patty Ann (George) Frost; a daughter and caregiver, Theresa Pacheco and her daughter, Lillyanne Baxley; a sister-in-law, Jane P. Bennett; his nieces and nephews, Heather (Michael) Peters, Kevin (Jill) McCormick, Katelyn (Ryan) Delk, Tori (B) Huggins, Wesley Frost, Kristin (Thomas) Sellers, Todd (Piroujak) Bennett, Sara Bennett, Michael Bennett, Stephen Smeltzer and Ashley Smeltzer; a part-time helper Blaze Baxley and numerous other family members that Ed loved dearly.
He was preceded in death by his son, Chuck McCormick, his parents, Charlie and Kitty McCormick and father and mother-in-law, Frank and Beatrice Purvis.
