Doris (Mundy) Yon

A Celebration of Life service for Doris Mundy Yon, 85, of Williston, SC will be held eleven o’clock a.m. Friday, September 24, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston with the Reverends Jamie Wootten and Tim Webb officiating; burial will be at the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to the Williston Cemetery Fund P.O. Box 367, Williston, SC 29853 or to a local animal shelter of your choice. Doris passed away on Sunday, September 19, 2021.The family would like to thank MSA Hospice, Stanley Harris, and Amber Brown for the wonderful care they have given to Doris and the entire family, during this very difficult time.

Born in Trenton, SC she was a daughter of the late Rison Brooker Mundy and Lula Mae Cain Mundy. She was a graduate of Windsor High School where she played varsity basketball. Doris was married to the late Herbert Edward Yon, was a homemaker and a member of Winfield Heights Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

Survivors include her daughter Patricia “Pat” (Charles) Zissette of Barnwell; daughter-in-law Elizabeth “Bonnie” Yon of Williston; grandchildren Kristal “Krissie” (Eric) Smith, Stephanie (Jason) Hensley, Carrie Z. (Josh) Still; great-grandchildren Kade Hensley and Ansley Smith; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her son Robert Edward “Bobby” Yon; grandson Chad Zissette; sisters Louise M. “Lucy” Redd, Nellie Cotney, Ida Mae Widener, Eloise Bryant, Elizabeth Williams, Joyce Swicegood; brothers Laurence Mundy and Jerry Mundy.   

2 Timothy 4: 7-8

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have longed for His appearing.
