A Graveside Funeral Service for Doris Meeks Jackson, 96, of Williston, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, November 3, 2024 at the Williston Cemetery with the Reverend Jimmy Hanf officiating. The family will receive friends after the service at the cemetery on Sunday. Mrs. Doris passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024.
Born in Fork Shoals, SC, she was a daughter of the late Marvin Louis Meeks and Dollie Maybelle Storay Meeks. She was married to the late Joe Jackson; they made Williston their home since 1952. She was a dedicated member of the Williston First Baptist Church where she worked with Vacation Bible School; she loved working with the children and taking them to the nursing home to sing for the residents. She took pride in decorating the First Baptist Church as well as, decorating church floats for town parades. She loved golf with a passion. She previously worked at Bud Burma; after her retirement, she enjoyed traveling with Christian Tours. Mrs. Doris enjoyed doing arts and crafts, sewing and working crossword puzzles. She was a loving mother and grandmother who was devoted to her family enjoying spending time with them.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara J. Kight of Aiken, SC; a son, Marvin Jackson of Gaston, SC; 6 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren and 3 great, great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra J. Jamison; a daughter-in-law, Beverly Ezzell Jackson; a sister, Nellie Ruth Thompson and brothers, James Meeks, Bobby Meeks, Billy Meeks, and Larry Meeks.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Cathy Boyles and Sabrina Grubbs for treating Mrs. Doris as their own mother with The Circle of Love.
