Funeral services for Donnie Williams, 71, of Barnwell, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Sunday, January 12, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend George Still officiating. Burial will follow in the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday. Donnie passed away on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late Alexander “Bumbsy” Williams and Edna Creech Williams. He attended Faith Christian Church and was a retired carpenter who worked in construction for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved fishing and gardening, as well as, hunting. He made knives and enjoyed “piddling” in his workshop. Donnie always enjoyed riding his puppies, Peanut and Daisy Mae on his golf cart and in his truck.
Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Lois Dale Whittle Williams; a son, Billy (Merchell) Williams; daughters, Sheila Carroll (Steven Carroll) and Hope Rhule all of Barnwell, SC; grandchildren, Britney M. Williams, Taylor A. Williams, M’Lynne (Brian) McCoy, Tesla M. Rhule, Joanna (Jeffrey) Register; a great grandson, Collier D. McCoy; sisters, Betty Still, Millie (Robert) Still and Joanne (George) Still, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Elizabeth (O’Neal) Hutson, Dorothy (Marion) Grubbs; brothers, Charlie (Lena) Williams, Manual T. “Tank” (Hazel) Williams, and Elbert Williams; brother-in-law, John Rice Still and a great granddaughter, Elena J. McCoy.
