Donald Edward Truitt, Jr. ascended to heaven on Friday, January 31, 2025. He was born to Donald Edward Truitt and Carol Suzanne Maynard in Vincennes, Knox County, Indiana on December 5, 1956.
Donnie earned an Associates of Applied Science degree from Carl Sandburg Jr. College in 1981 and a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Illinois University in 1984. His college years were some of the happiest years of his life during which he met and courted his wife, Cathryn Viola Trout. They were married on September 2, 1982. Donnie also earned a Master of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems Database Technologies from Regis University in 2004.
He worked for Boeing Commercial Airplane Company and McDonnell Aircraft Corporation in computer aided design (CAD) and computer aided manufacturing (CAM) and was proud to have designed the insignia on Airforce One. Donnie was part of a family country western band prior to college, and he was an accomplished musician (guitar, keyboard and drums), singer and songwriter. He earned a pilot’s license in 1976 and enjoyed flying. Donnie also enjoyed assembling model airplanes and astronomy.
Donnie is survived by his son Patrick Michael Truitt, sister Jonna Rae Adcox and brother Karl “Mike” Frederick Truitt. Preceding him in death were his parents, wife Cathryn Viola Trout, and his brother Patrick Sean Truitt.
