The family of Diane Williams would like to extend heartfelt thank you to Amedisys Hospice Nurses and Staff, and to lifelong friend and caregiver Amber Brown for all of the love, care, and concern they have shown to Diane over the last couple of months.
Born in Salley, SC, she was the daughter of the late Arthur Royce and Lottie Adams Williamson. She attended school in Springfield where she was the mascot. Diane married Leslie McCollum and they had four children, Wendy, Kenny, Lesley, and Chris. She was a member of Salley Baptist Church but attended Ashleigh Baptist Church for many years. Diane worked at Savannah River Site for over ten years and also worked as a host at Red Lobster in Aiken, SC for a number of years. She was a loving and devoted caregiver for her parents. She was the apple of her daddy’s eye. She truly loved and cared for her parents. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a special place in her heart. She cherished her relationship with each one of them. She will always be remembered as a loving and caring mother and grandmother. She loved to cook Sunday dinner and have her family over, however, she could “burn up” a set of pots and pans.
Survivors include her loving children, Wendy (Dickie) Widener of Blackville, SC, Kenny McCollum of Norway, SC, Lesley Diane McCollum of Springfield, SC and Chris McCollum, of Bamberg, SC; grandchildren, Brandon (Austin), Tristan, and Spencer Widener, Kaleb (Melanie) McCollum; Ariel (Justin) Rose; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Barbara (Ace) Merrill of Vinton, VA; a special niece, Pamela Diane (Tommy) Baltzegar and other numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Ann Gleaton; a brother, Arthur R. “Butch” Williamson, Jr. and a grandson, Cameron McCollum who she raised and adored.
