Dean King Bennett, of Williston, SC, passed away on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at Piedmont Hospital at age 64.
Born December 22, 1959, to Constance King Bennett and Thomas Bennett, III in New York City, NY. He grew up in Floral Park, NY with his mother and grandparents, Maude and Lawrence “Lonnie” King. After graduating from St. Paul’s School in Garden City, NY he headed west to study Marine Biology at the University of Texas. After his time at UT, Dean and his former wife Colleen Price, moved to Massachusetts where they had a daughter, Caitlin Rose, and started a construction and large equipment business together. Dean’s entrepreneurial spirit ultimately led to an innovative international business venture in the organic fertilizer industry in the United Arab Emirates. It was during these international travels that he met his wife, Susan Toth, in Hungary. In 2004 Dean and Susan moved to South Carolina where they owned and operated the White Pond Donut and Ice Cream Shop for 4 years in the White Pond Community. Dean quickly became a town favorite where everyone loved to hear his stories and he proudly told every customer that the Donut Shop was “the best smelling job I’ve ever had”. Dean never met a stranger and his ability to make everyone laugh will be missed.
Dean had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel. From construction equipment to boats to motorcycles, there wasn’t a machine around that Dean couldn’t operate. His favorite hobby was always flying and was a licensed pilot and even learned to fly helicopters.
Dean is survived by his wife of 23 years Susan Toth Bennett, daughter Caitlin (Brennan), granddaughter Teagan Rose, and numerous lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Constance King Bennett and Thomas Bennett, III, and grandparents, Maude and Lawrence "Lonnie" King.
