A Celebration of Life Service for Dayton Sherman “Red” “Rooster” Allen, III will be held at two o’clock p.m., Saturday, December 16, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Dayton passed away on December 12, 2023.
Born in Niceville, FL at Eglin Air Force Base, he was a son of Florine Apperson Allen and the late Dayton Sherman Allen, Jr. He attended school in Indialantic Beach, FL until moving to SC in 1975 where he attended Williston-Elko High School. He worked as a Journeyman Lineman having worked for C.L. Terrell of North Augusta, Wright Utilities, Infratech, Georgia Power, Pro Bore, Williams’ Electric and Direct Tech before retiring early.
Survivors include his loving wife, Brenda Williams Allen of the home; daughters, Dawn Smith of Lexington, SC and Victoria S. Allen of Elko, SC; a son, Ron Smith of Elko, SC; sisters, Brenda Thomas and Bonita (Gordon) Gray, both of Williston, SC and Linda Fleming of Jacksonville, FL; grandchildren, Layla Morris, Daniel Allen Palmer, Dylan Smith, Hailey Smith, Samantha Smith, Daisha Green, Ron Smith, III, Dayton Smith, and John Smith, Keira Smith, Maddie Smith, and Kayle Smith.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Cassie Allen; brothers, John and Scott Allen and grandchildren, Kayland Smith and J. C. Morris.
