Funeral services for David A. Whitehead, 93, of Barnwell, SC will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 29, 2026 at the First Baptist Church, Barnwell, SC with Dr. T. Bart Kelley and Reverend Kevin Roundtree officiating. The family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 p.m. until the time of service in the church sanctuary. Burial will follow at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (by the airport).
Honored to serve as pallbearers will be Brian Whitehead, Brad Whitehead, Ryan Whitehead, Matthew Anderson, Karson Whitehead and Drew Whitehead.
Born in Sylvania, GA he was the son of the late Raleigh Etheridge Whitehead and Lucy Bragg Whitehead and was married to the late Mary Voncile Oglesby Whitehead. David started at the Shuron Corporation in 1962 and retired after many years. He was a member of First Baptist in Barnwell and was a former member of Buck Creek Methodist Church in Sylvania, GA. He loved to fish and loved to be around his family and attend his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Survivors include 2 sons, Terry (Angie) Whitehead and Jerry (Sharon) Whitehead; his grandchildren, Brian (Jamie) Whitehead, Ryan (Kristin) Whitehead, Brad (Ashley) Whitehead, Jonathan (Josie) Smith, Anthony (Connor) Smith, Dustin (Leslie) Smith, Tiffany Whitehead, April Croft, Laura Ashleigh (Mark) Donehue and Megan Whitehead; his great-grandchildren, Karson Whitehead, Drew Whitehead, Matthew (Carsyn) Anderson, Ryles Whitehead, Ripp Whitehead, Sadie Grace Whitehead, Brantley Whitehead, Kenzie Whitehead, Ava Croft, Morgan Croft, Lawton Croft, Justin Leonard and Kali Stevenson and 2 great-great grandchildren Rowan Leonard and Beren Leonard; 2 sisters, Margie Godbee and Marie Hutchinson; a brother, Sollie (Betty Jean) Whitehead and sister-in-law, Lunette Whitehead.
In addition to his parents and his loving wife, he was preceded in death by 2 daughters, Marsha Blalock and Susan Williams; a son and daughter-in-law, David (Janice) Whitehead; a grandson, Dale Stevenson and 3 brothers, Buddy Whitehead, Lewis Whitehead, Jimmy Whitehead and a sister, Louise Dailey
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made in Memory of Mr. Whitehead to The Gideons International Barnwell Camp, P.O. Box 86, Williston, SC 29853.
