A memorial service for Malcolm “Darwin” Dyches, 70, of the Long Branch Community will be held at 1 pm on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at Long Branch Baptist Church with the Reverend Bert Baynham officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the church sanctuary. Darwin passed away at home on Monday, January 6, 2025.
The family has asked that memorial contributions be made to Long Branch Baptist Church, 3223 Hwy 37, Williston, SC 29853.
Born in Moncks Corner, SC he was the son of the late Julian Malcolm Dyches and Ruth Phillips Dyches and was married to Magaline “Maggie” Williams Dyches for 43 years. He was a truck driver for most of his life hauling anything from logs to most recently hauling grain for Rowell Trucking. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his wife and family. He was a member of Long Branch Baptist Church and served in the SC National Guard for a number of years.
Survivors include his loving wife Maggie, of the home; his daughter, Mary Kate “Katie” (Jackie B.) Collins of Williston, SC; sister, Cindy (Roger) Owen of North Charleston, SC; sister-in-law, Corine Williams Hutson of Springfield, SC; brother-in-law, Charlie Williams, Jr.; several nieces; two grand-doggers, Luna and Solstice.
