A Graveside Service for Darlene “Dar Dar” Kay Mitchum Owens will be held at two o’clock, p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2024 at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery by the airport with the Reverend Charles Morris officiating.
Born in Aiken, SC she was a daughter of Richard Wallace Mitchum and Connie Mattox Mitchum and was married to John L. Owens, Jr. Darlene was a retail truckdriver for many years having driven over 3 million miles hauling merchandise for Hobby Lobby and for VF Wrangler Jeans Wear.
Survivors include her loving husband of the home John Owens, Jr.; a son, Tony (Retha) Owens of Barnwell; grandchildren, Justin Chavis, Kendra Chavis, Brandon (Brooke) Chavis, Keali Chavis, T.J. Owens, Blake Owens (fiancé Hallie York) and Brittany Owens; great-grandchildren, McKenley Chavis, C.J. Miller, Tessa Chavis, Carter Owens, Jayce Klebe, Harper Klebe and Carsyn Owens; a sister, Denna M. (Gene) Williamson of Windsor; a brother, John Curtis (Angela) Mitchum of Windsor; and a number of nieces nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Tessa Owens Chavis, and a sister, Debby M. Clark.
