Funeral services for Daniel W. Gunter, 59, of Aiken, SC will be held at five o’clock p.m., Tuesday, August 31, 2021 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Danny Wilson officiating. The family will receive friends from three to five p.m. before the service on Tuesday at the funeral home. Daniel passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021
Born in Aiken, SC, he was a son of Dorothy Mills Gunter (Wyman Seigler) of Aiken, SC and the late James Gunter. He was a graduate of Ridge Spring Monetta High School and attended Cedar Creek Church. In 2020, he retired from SRNS after 35 years where he worked as a maintenance mechanic and a planner. He owned and operated Gunter’s Well and Pump Service. He served 6 years in the SC National Guard, # 122 Engineering Battalion in Saluda, SC from February of 1980 to February of 1986. He received two awards during that time, the Palmetto Service Ribbon (PSR) and a Good Conduct Medal (ARCAM).
Survivors include his loving wife of 39 years Michele Day Gunter of the home; his daughters Ashley Anne (Thomas) Henry, Taylor Michele (Troy) Watson; a son Daniel Jessie (Christina) Gunter all of Aiken; sisters Evanda Morrissey (Kenny Myrick) of Graniteville, Amanda Gunter and Aimee Gunter both of Monetta; brothers Hayward (Cathy) Brown of Saluda, Darel (Dora) Gunter of West Columbia; grandchildren Cole, Wyatt, Samuel, Piper and Holden Henry; Scarlett, Alexis, Khloe Watson and Shelby Watkins; mother-in-law Barbara Reese Day Hutchinson of Aiken; father-in-law Jessie C. Day of Lexington; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
