Christopher Keith “Chris” Merwin, 40, of Hilda, SC passed away on Tuesday, March 5, 2019. The family will receive friends at 6 p.m., Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at the home in Hilda.

Born in Cobleskill, NY, he was a son of Diane Lynn Merwin Padgett. Chris loved animals and enjoyed watching T.V. In his younger years, he competed in the Special Olympics and was one of the first students in the Barnwell Public School Special Needs Class.

In addition to his mother, Diane Padgett, survivors include his sisters Amanda (Michael) Carson, Cassandra Padgett, Angela (Rodney) Chavis all of Hilda; his brother Benjamine Padgett, Jr. of Williston; his step-father Benjamine Padgett, Sr.; nieces and nephews Hayle and Lily Carson, Bella Padgett, Valarie, Alexander and Rodney Allen Chavis; and his grandmother Sandra Merwin.
