Cherie Marie Falso, 68 years young, passed away unexpectedly, at 4:00 PM on August 12, 2025, with her children by her side.
She is survived by her son, Michael Shea (wife Sarah, daughter Andie) and Natalie Lane (husband Kyle), who were the joy of her life. Cherie’s greatest pride was becoming “Grandma” to her cherished granddaughter, Andie Shea, who brought a new light into her life.
Born to Mary Laragh Falso & Felippo Falso in Syracuse, NY, Cherie is also survived by her loving father, Felippo Falso, and her brothers, Mark Falso and Phil Falso (wife Lynn). Cherie’s heart was never without the love of her dogs. She adored her faithful companions, Lila & Belle, Natalie’s dogs Thorrin & Ryder, and now finds eternal peace alongside Trix, Lola, Buddy, Charlie, Blaze, and Star—each a treasured soul who filled her days with unconditional love, comfort, and joy.
Cherie found joy in the simple moments of life, such as listening to the birds sing their morning song, and enjoying the sound of her windchimes as they play the song of the wind as she would tend to her garden.
As a lifelong garden designer, Cherie turned her passion into a thriving career, owning and operating several garden design and landscaping businesses in the Syracuse area. Her love for gardening blossomed under the guidance of her former grandmother-in-law, Grandma Louise, with whom she shared a deep and lasting bond.
From those early lessons, Cherie grew into a true expert — able to name any plant & explain its role in a garden’s harmony. Cherie was also a phenomenal interior designer, with a gift for envisioning beauty not just outdoors, but inside the home as well.
As a child, her daughter Natalie fondly remembers the two of them spending hours drawing floor plans and imagining the perfect house.
Cherie shared a special bond with her son, Michael. Because Cherie was a big dreamer who loved to aim high, she was an inspiration to Michael, and to many others in her life.
She also had a playful side, often enjoying evenings of board games — Rummikub, Othello, Monopoly, Yahtzee, and Pente among her favorites — creating memories filled with laughter and friendly competition.
Cherie’s greatest love, however, was for Jesus. Baptized in 2014, she rekindled her walk with the Lord and found deep joy in serving Him. Cherie regularly volunteered in children’s ministry, whether cooking a meal, playing games, or teaching a class. She made meaningful connections everywhere she went, especially within her church community. She recently completed the Experiencing God course alongside the women of Hilda First Baptist Church in Hilda, SC — a life-changing study she was able to share and experience with her daughter Natalie. Serving side by side in ministry, Natalie witnessed firsthand how God revealed His love to Cherie in a deeper and more personal way. Cherie’s faith was radiant, and she truly was a shining light for Jesus.
As 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 reminds us:
"Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: (for we walk by faith, not by sight:) we are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
Revelation 21:4 brings us comfort:
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away."
Right now, one thing is certain: Cherie is in heaven, worshipping Jesus and singing with Him — as she so loved to do. She danced through life to the beat of her own drum, full of spunk, sass, and a fierce love for her family, friends, and Savior.
She is with Jesus now and will be with Him for all of eternity.
Cherie’s legacy is one of love, creativity, service, and unwavering faith — carried on in every garden she planted, every child she encouraged, and every heart she touched.
Cherie’s spirit will live on in her family and in all who were fortunate enough to know her.
