Charles “Chuck” David Schmidt, 81, of Williston, SC passed away on Tuesday, June 16, 2026. Funeral services will be held at one o’clock p.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Jimmy Hanf officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be given to Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, P.O. Box 304, Elko, SC 29826 or to the Animal Advocates of Barnwell County, Animal Rescue Operation, P.O. Box 1924, Barnwell, SC 29812.
Born in Seattle, WA, Chuck was the son of the late David Schmidt and Ernestine Haney Schmidt. Chuck was a member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church for a number of years and retired as a Superintendent in Commercial Construction. Prior to beginning his career in construction, he served 8 years in the U. S. Army. He was an avid Clemson Fan who always enjoyed tailgating at the games and especially enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. Chuck was very fond of animals especially dogs and cats.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Bonnie Tisdale Schmidt; son, Charles David (Chasity) Schmidt, Jr. of Snelling, SC; step-son, Robert M. (Deborah) Williams of Williston, SC; step-daughter, Jennifer (Jack) Williams of Clemson, SC; grandchildren, Tanya, Kellsey, Miranda, and Courtney along with six great grandchildren.
