Cecil Chavis

Funeral services for Cecil Chavis, 71, of Barnwell, SC will be held at three o’clock p.m., Thursday, November 12, 2020 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with burial in the Williston Cemetery. The family will receive friends from one-thirty p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Cecil passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2020.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, Cecil was a son of the late Roosevelt Chavis and Retha Mae New Chavis. He was a self-employed brick mason. He enjoyed going to Columbia Market and the Flea Market with fruits and vegetables. He also hauled scrap metal and worked in the pulpwoods. Cecil loved his family and they all enjoyed spending time together.

Survivors include his loving wife of 47 years Lore Ann Mitchell Chavis of the home; his daughters Donna (Franklin) Churchwell and Sarah Zissette all of Blackville; his sons Cecil A. (Sharell) Chavis, Jr. and Christopher Roosevelt Chavis all of Barnwell; grandchildren Ashley Chavis, Kathy Churchwell, Gehry Zissette, Franklin Churchwell, Jr., Breanna Chavis, Adam Chavis, Andrew Chavis, Allison Chavis, Aaron Chavis, Abraham Chavis and Noah Chavis; great grandchildren Hunter Churchwell, Brandon Zorn, Amber Marie Foster, Aaron Foster and Allen Lamar Foster; his sisters Patricia Hair and Kathy (Edward) Davis all of Blackville; Jeanette Chavis Driggers, Barbara (Tony) Carter, and Shelby Jean (Eric) Williams all of Barnwell; his brothers O’Neal (Janet) Chavis of Aiken and Earl Chavis of Windsor; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Tommy, Leamon and Mack Chavis and a grandson Cecil Alexander Chavis, III.
