Catherine was born in Zanesville, OH in 1948. She grew up in Blackville, SC, graduating from Blackville-Hilda High School. She met Zonnie Bobby Odom while in high school, who refused to let her leave his side for the 32 years they were married until he passed in December 1998.
While in high school, Catherine worked as a photography assistant for Monarch Studios and dreamed of being a flight attendant and traveling the world, but life had other plans. Catherine was blessed with a family which includes three children – Sherry Lynn Odom and John Calvo (Atlanta, GA), Cynthia Odom-Brown and Scott Brown (Apollo Beach, FL) and, Bobby Bryan Odom and Heather Jowers Odom (Columbia, SC) as well as seven grandchildren whom she dearly loved and cherished. Catherine worked as a dental assistant to support the family while her husband went to dental school. Soon after graduation, they returned home and opened a dental practice in Williston, SC, where Catherine managed the office, lab, and assisted chairside all while raising three kids, managing the house, opening a restaurant, and building their dream home. Catherine loved gardening, painting, traveling, and learning about everything, especially nature. She was an excellent cook and was always ready to feed a crowd. Catherine had a zest for life and loved being social. She had a generous heart, a free spirit and was always genuine. She went out of her way to make everyone feel welcome. She will be dearly missed by her family. The world is a little dimmer without her in it to anyone who truly knew her.
Catherine leaves behind one brother, Johnny DuBois of Barnwell, SC, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved like her children. She was preceded in death by her mother, Ellis DuBois, her stepfather Marshall DuBois, and her brother, Dale Cornell.
