Born in Charleston, SC, he was a son of the late Calvin Olin Wilson, Jr. and Ellen Thompson Wilson. Calvin attended Newberry College, USC-Aiken, and George Washington University and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Training from Cambridge University. He retired from E.I. DuPont/SRS as a Training Specialist after working 32½ years. He was later employed at Penn State University where he trained students to work at U. S. Steel in Pittsburg, PA and was the Office Administrator at Adam’s Nursery for 12 years. He was an accomplished musician in woodwinds and was a former member of the Aiken Community Band. Ivy Garden Club of Williston was proud to have him as an Honorary Member, as he was always a gracious host and willing to help in any capacity. He also helped his wife, Diane, with her catering business for many years. Calvin was a member of Mercy Church in Aiken and was a member of the Williston Lions Club for many years. Anyone who knew Calvin loved listening to his stories; he was a master storyteller and always had wonderful stories and memories to share with his friends and family. Calvin accomplished a great deal in his life, but he was most proud of his wife, his daughters, and his grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 52 years, Diane Rochay Wilson; two daughters, Heather (Neal) Chambers of Barnwell, SC and Kelly (Bill) Newsome of Rock Hill, SC; grandchildren, Lindsay Wilcox and fiancé, Dale Johnson, Emma Grace Chambers, and Robbie Wilcox; a brother, Wayne D. (Melinda) Wilson of Williston, SC; special friends, Ola Mae and Gene Peavler, Sheila Moss, Deanne Orr, Janie Bell, and Peggy Avery along with a number of nieces and nephews.
