Calvin Wade Roberts

Calvin Wade Roberts, 62 passed away on Friday, November 10, 2023. Funeral Services will be held 3:00 o’clock PM, Monday, November 13, 2023, at Double Pond Baptist Church in Blackville, SC with Dr. Andy Sandifer officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Monday, from 2:oo o’clock PM until the time of the service at the church. In Lieu of flowers the family has asked that memorial contributions be sent to Double Pond Baptist Church, Cemetery Fund, 357 Double Pond Road, Blackville, SC 29817.

Pallbearers will be Dean Brown, Jay Delk, Michael Harbor, Fred Jeffers, Scotty Owens and Don Weeks.

Born in Augusta, GA he was a son of the late Wade Hampton Roberts and Annie Weeks Roberts. Calvin retired from Savannah River Site where he was a Reactor Operator Supervisor. He loved Fried chicken and sweet tea, and he loved to hunt and cook. He was a jokester who just loved to make people smile and have a good time, he enjoyed listening to classic rock and watching sports but especially loved to watch the Game Cocks play. He was a family man and was a loving “GrandBear” to his grandchildren.

Survivors include his children, Tara (David) Berry of Blackville, Trent (Caitlyn) Roberts of Barnwell and Taylor M. Roberts of Hephzibah, GA; his grandchildren, Harper, Tinsley, Cadence, Olivia, Rylee, Caymen and Kash; 2 sisters, Cynthia R. (Steve) Martin of Blackville and Cathy R. (Timothy) Tucker of Barnwell; nieces, Holly (Jay) Abbott and Tiffany Tucker; a nephew, Chad Martin; great-niece, Kallie Abbott; his aunt, Marilyn Jeffers and numerous cousins.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Wayne Hampton Roberts.
