Funeral services for Boyd Henry Bearden, III, 52 of Denmark, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Friday, March 10, 2023 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Denmark, SC with the Pastors Billy and Lyril Poovey officiating; burial will follow in the Denmark Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday from one p.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Boyd passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Born in Isle of Palms, SC, he was a son of the late Boyd Henry Bearden Jr. and Virginia Jean Mae Nolan Bearden. He graduated from Edisto High School, studied Criminal Law at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College and was a World War II Historian having studied American Military History at American Military University as a Graduate Student. He loved collecting WWII memorabilia and building models/dioramas. He was a member of the Word of Life Church in Bamberg and formerly worked as an EMT/Fire Fighter in Orangeburg and Richland Counties. He previously served in the U. S. Army National Guard.
Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Amanda Hutto Bearden; a daughter, Mikayla C. Bearden of the home; sisters, Charlene Simmons Rowland who raised him after the age of 13, JoAnne Rivers, Wanda Jean Williams, Dawn Etheridge and Jennifer Estes; brothers, Michael Jones and Greg “Thad” Marlow; his biological mother, Diana (A.J.) Wilcox; mother and father-in-law, Wayne and Vicki Hutto; sister-in-law, Mindy (Chris) Collins; brothers-in-law, Timothy Hutto, Anthony Hutto (Cristian) Wilkins, and Bill Hensley; half-sister, Helen Turner-Davis; half-brother, Stanley Wilcox; a special friend, Scott Barksdale and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Boyd was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry and Steve Simmons.
