Funeral services for Bobby Joe Jackson, 86, of North, SC will be held four o’clock p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at Hopewell Southern Methodist Church with Dr. John Hucks, Jr. and Wiley Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Honored to serve as pallbearers are: Andrew Jackson, Wiley Jackson, Casey Jackson, Rod Jackson, Spencer Irick, and Richard Phillips. Bobby Joe passed away on Friday, May 24, 2024.
Born in Orangeburg, SC, he was a son of the late Wiley Quitman (W.Q.) Jackson and Daisy Myrl Jackson. He was a life-time member of Hopewell Southern Methodist Church where he previously served as a Sunday School teacher and a trustee/steward. He worked for SCE & G for 32 years and retired as a supervisor. He was a member of the Orangeburg County Sherriff’s Department Posse for a number of years and was a member of the Swansea Masonic Lodge Oliver # 133. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time on Lake Murray with his children and grandchildren. Bobby Joe also loved his quarter horses, hunting, fishing and watching the birds from the kitchen window.
Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Nancy G. Jackson; daughters Vicki Jackson (Spencer) Irick of Orangeburg, SC and Janet Elaine Jackson of North, SC; a son, Andrew Gleaton (Laura) Jackson of North, SC; grandchildren, Justin (Chancie) Jackson, Shembra (Robert) Erxleben, Casey (CiCi) Jackson, Bayleah Jackson Cooper and Wiley (Mary Katherine) Jackson; great grandchildren, Julian Cooper, Robbie Erxleben, Tradd Cooper, Juno Erxleben, Wyatt Jackson, and Kelly Jackson; sisters, Becky (Henry) Sharpe and Jane Fralick (Danny); a sister-in-law, Carolyn Jackson; a brother, Timmy (Lori) Jackson and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Ray Jackson; his brother, Jackie Jackson and nephews, Carlise and Bryan Sharpe, and Trey Fralick.
Memorial contributions may be given to Hopewell Southern Methodist Church, 1715 Ninety-Six Rd., North, SC 29112.
