Bobby Jones

Robert Wells “Bobby” Jones, 85, of Elko, SC passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Healing Springs Baptist Church with the Reverend Jeffrey Ray officiating. Burial will be at two o’clock p.m. in the Memorial Park Cemetery, 2720 Broughton St., Orangeburg, SC 29115. The family will receive friends from ten-thirty a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Saturday.

Born in Barnwell County, SC, he was a son of the late, Henry P. Jones and Daisy Bell Martin Jones. He was a life-long member of Healing Springs Baptist Church where he previously served as a deacon and was a member of the Woodman of the World. He retired from E.I. DuPont after working for over 40 years as a Power Distribution Senior Operator. He was well known as one of the best operators at Savannah River Site. He took great pride in his yard and was well-pleased when the roadways were kept clean, as well. He loved the Carolina Gamecocks and was a U. S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include two nieces, Karen Jones (Tommy) Sutcliffe of Cordova, SC, Lynn Jones Carrigg Bessinger of Bamberg, SC and a nephew, Mark Jones of Windsor, SC; uncle, Jimmy (Melba) Martin of Cordova, SC; a sister-in-law, Beverly Jones of Cordova, SC and a number of great and great, great nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Johnny Martin Jones.
