Bill Crout, Sr.

William “Bill” Stewart Crout Sr. passed away on Tuesday, September 7, 2021. Bill was born on April 8, 1937 to the late Cleola Dunbar Crout and Charlie William Crout of Pelion, SC and a graduate of Pelion High School. He was a former self-employed farmer and truck driver for Shumpert’s in Pelion as well as an honorable United States Air Force Veteran. 

Bill has been a lifelong member of Florence Baptist Church where he has served as a Deacon and as a part of the Church Building Committee. In 1960, he and fellow members helped to build the Church parsonage that remains there today. 

He is preceded by his dear sister Patricia Metcalf. Bill’s memory will live on with his loving wife of 44 years, Ann Cushman Crout, daughter Joanna (Bryan) Mitchell of Aiken and son Stewart (Jessica) Crout Jr. of Aiken; sister Carolyn Williamson of Pelion; grandchildren Ashley Poole, Katie Hill, Benton Mitchell, Kahlan Crout, Diana Crout; and great grandchildren David Hill and Kane Swigart along with many more loved family and friends. 

A Graveside Memorial Service for Bill will be held at 2 o’clock PM, Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Florence Baptist Church Cemetery in Pelion, SC with officiating Reverends Elton Dunbar and Kyle Harden. Memorial contributions may be given to Florence Baptist Church Building Fund, 1709 Windy Wood Rd., Pelion, SC 29123. Due to the current pandemic, face masks are required.
