Beth (Hair) Bennett

A Graveside Funeral Service for Edna Beth Hair Bennett, 78, of Columbia, SC will be held at one o’clock p.m., Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Blackville Cemetery with the Reverend Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Memorial contributions may be given in memory of Beth to The Ronald McDonald House, 2901 Colonial Dr., Columbia, SC 29203. Beth passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024.

Born in Augusta, GA on November 9, 1945, she was the daughter of the late Lucius E. and Magilou A. Hair. She was a graduate of Blackville High School and Palmer College where she learned to be a Secretary and worked in this field until 1992. On November 1, 1969, she married the love of her life, Richard E. Bennett and remained married for 33 years until his passing. Columbia, SC was Beth’s home for most of her life. She enjoyed reading mystery novels written by James Patterson and David Baldacci and also books written by Pat Conroy.

Survivors include her life-long friend, Mary Ammons of Summerfield, NC; Charles Renew (Linda) of Blackville, SC; Jim Fickling of Blackville and Skeeter Harmon of Gilbert, SC.

In addition to her parents, Lucius and Magilou Hair Norris, Beth is preceded in death by her husband, Richard and her brother, T. Dale Hair.
