Bertha Lee (Elkins) Driggers

Funeral services for Bertha Lee Elkins Driggers, 88, of Barnwell, SC will be held at two o’clock p.m., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC; burial will be in the Blackville Cemetery. The family will receive friends from six to eight p.m., Friday, March 1st at Folk Funeral Home, Williston, SC. Memorial contributions may be sent to the Alzheimer’s Association, 140 Stoneridge Dr., #210, Columbia, SC 29210.  Bertha passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2019.

Born in Blackville, SC, she was a daughter of the late Arthur Elkins and Bertha Still Elkins and was once married to the late Joe Randolph Driggers. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Blackville where she sang in the church choir as a teenager. She loved to play poker, fish and spend time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughters Emily Creech, Teena McCoy, Glenda (Donnie) Curtis all of Barnwell, Brenda (Robert) Burns of Hamlet, NC, Dora (William) Worthington of Orangeburg and Kathy Giamportone of Barnwell; sons Mike (Delana) Driggers of Estill and Bruce Driggers of Lexington; 18 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; a special caregiver Keisha Gilchrist of Johnson and her special fishing partner, Chet Tomson of Orangeburg.

She was preceded in death by her son Joe Driggers, Jr., her twin sister Birtie Driggers, sisters, Eva Hutto, Beulah Still; brothers Cecil, Brodus, Norman and David Elkins; grandchildren Robert Sweatman and Brendan Salley.
