Barbara (Hollis) Kennerly

Barbara Ann Hollis Kennerly, 91, of Williston, SC formerly of Springfield, SC passed away on Thursday, May 8, 2025. Funeral services will be held at two o’clock p.m., Monday, May 12, 2025 at the First Baptist Church Springfield with the Reverends George Smith and Henry Cooper officiating; burial will follow in the Springfield Cemetery.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Honored to serve as pallbearers are David Augustine, Brandon Jones, Matthew Kennerly, Dalton Knight, Eric Widener and George Widener. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Robert Wilson Hollis, II and Elizabeth Rawls Hollis. Barbara grew up in Ehrhardt, SC and graduated from North Greenville Christian Academy and Junior College (North Greenville University) where she was the school’s first Homecoming Queen.  She was married to the late Holly M. Kennerly for 52 years and lived in the Sawyerdale Community for 2 years before spending the next 50 years in Springfield, SC. She was a long-time devoted member of the First Baptist Church Springfield where she held many different positions throughout the years. She retired from the former Orangeburg School District # 1 as the district bookkeeper. Several years after her retirement, Mrs. Barbara made her home in Williston, SC where she has resided for 18 years.

Survivors include her children, Mack (Pam) Kennerly of Springfield, SC, Gene (Jill) Kennerly of Seneca, SC, Ann (Milton) Widener of Williston, SC and John (Kathy) Kennerly of Lexington, SC; grandchildren, Kathryn Kennerly of Springfield, SC, Kristen (David) Augustine of Springfield, SC, Matthew Kennerly of Seneca, SC, Shelly (Dalton) Knight of Pendleton, SC, George (Tasha) Widener of Livingston, SC, Eric (Amanda) Widener of Summerville, SC, and Kathleen (Brandon) Jones of Hanahan, SC; eight great-grandchildren, Kip, Hallie Jane, Cannon, Hollis, Kimber, Case, Charlee and Beck along with numerous nieces and nephews and her four-legged companion, Phoebe.

In addition to her husband, Holly Kennerly she was preceded in death by her siblings, Elsie (Bill) Speaks, Harriett (Charles) Langdale and Robert W. (Anne) Hollis, III and her sister-in-law, Uldine (Ralph) Gleaton.
