Funeral services for Asa Allen Way, III, 82, of Denmark, SC will be held 3 pm Sunday, April 23, 2023 at the Denmark First Baptist Church with Dr. Andy Sandifer and Dr. Thomas Terry officiating. Burial will be held at Bamberg Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Folk Funeral Home, Denmark, SC. Memorial Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.heart.org .
Born in Charleston County, SC he was the son of the late Asa Allen Way, Jr. and Mildred Morris Way Bowman and was married to Barbara Platt Way. He was a member of the Denmark First Baptist Church, the Denmark Boat Club and a member of the CMA – Christian Motorcycle Association. He worked at Rogers Tire Service and Witts Small Engines for a number of years. Asa retired from SRS having worked with Oasis Nuclear as a Subcontractor and Maintenance Supervisor. Asa loved to farm and tinker with 2 cylinder engines and could make any of them run. He never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He enjoyed talking to people about the mechanics of engines and tractors.
Survivors include his loving wife Barbara; a daughter, Lynn W.(Todd) Cook of Ridgeland, SC; his grandchildren, Henry Nicholas (Kaesi) Still, III, Asa Mackenzie (Lindsey) Still and Matthew Harper Cook (Tori Still); great-grandchildren, Wilder Boyce Still, Riley Rose Still, Asa Trey Still and Eden Rose Childs; Sisters-in-law, Alice P. Johnson and Harriett Platt and a number of nieces and nephews, Ricky (Tonya) Platt, Pam (Don) Williams, Dawn (Matt) Morris and Dean (Brent) Johnson.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers-in-law, N.L. Johnson and Charles Platt.
