Annette Creech Delk, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 28, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was affectionately known to many as “Nanny.”
Born in Barnwell County, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Ansel Creech and Eloise Still Creech, and was married to the late Henry Eugene Delk, Sr. for 58 years. She was a member of Double Pond Baptist Church and retired from the South Carolina Department of Social Services. During retirement, Annette and Henry enjoyed traveling with the Young at Heart from the First Baptist Church of Barnwell and attending the Willing Hearts at Friendship Baptist Church. Annette also enjoyed participating in the Sleytown Quilting Club and was known for her cooking and baking skills.
In addition to her husband and parents, Annette was preceded in death by her brother, James Willard Creech. Survivors include her children: Sherry (Don) Moore of Barnwell, SC, Rhonda (Bill) Lawrence of Lexington, SC, and Henry Eugene (Kelly) Delk, Jr. of Lexington, SC; grandchildren: Kitt (Anna) Moore, Mary Weston Lawrence, Lillian Lawrence, Elli Delk, Katherine Delk and Sarah Parker Delk; a great grandson: Henry Kitt Moore; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister, Sara Creech Smith, and very special friend, cousin, and caregiver, Mary Beth Creech.
A funeral service will be held at eleven o’clock a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at Double Pond Baptist Church with the Reverends Dr. Thomas Terry and Dr. Andy Sandifer officiating. The family will receive friends from ten a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Double Pond Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 357 Double Pond Road, Blackville, SC 29817.
