Anne truly embraced her life as a small town girl of Williston, SC! With the exception of her birth in California and a few stops in between, she spent the majority of her life in Williston. Throughout her life, she was blessed to be a part of a large family that consisted of 2 sets of grandparents, many uncles, aunts, cousins, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. She spent many holidays, special occasions, and long summer days with her relatives. She loved going to Isle of Palms and spending summers there with her paternal grandmother “Heidi”.

Anne attended Spartanburg Methodist College. Her entire working career consisted of employment at many local Williston Businesses. Her first job was at Ms. Jean’s Daycare. Anne loved children and they loved her. She devoted much of her time and energy to this job. Her next venture was working at Rite Aid, the local Pharmacy. She then moved to Meeting on Main, where she served as the hostess for many years. Anne was always that friendly face and warm welcome that everyone cherished! She even spent a short time working at Schumpert’s Market. Anne knew so many people in the town and truly enjoyed having the opportunity to serve others while on her jobs.

In her spare time, Anne loved to bake! She was an excellent baker and truly enjoyed sharing her goodies with others. She also enjoyed shopping. She was a member of the Williston First Baptist Church where she taught Children’s Sunday School Classes.

College football was one of her favorite pastimes! She was an avid Clemson football fan and spent well over 50 years attending football games. She and her family traveled to many away games as well. In more recent years, she enjoyed traveling to see her nephew, Daniel play for Gardner-Webb University.

Finally, Anne had a great passion and love for animals, especially cats! Her heart went out to stray cats and she would “adopt” those that came to her house.

Survivors include her father Winchester Smith, III; her brother and sister-in-law Timothy Matthew “Tim” (Cathy) Smith; nieces Lauren Smith (Chad) Singer, Maggie Smith; nephews Zac (Alex) Smith, Daniel (Callie) Smith; great nieces Addison and Emma Singer.

She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Lott Smith, her brother Winchester Smith, IV, and niece Kimberly Smith.
