Allen Moore Hawkes, Jr., 78, of Aiken, SC passed away on Friday, November 7, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at two o’clock p.m., Thursday, November 13, 2025 in the Folk Funeral Home Chapel, Williston, SC with the Reverend Frank Barker officiating; military honors accorded. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be given to Lighthouse Baptist Church, 2094 Columbia Hwy. N., Aiken, SC 29805 or to a charity of one’s choice.
The family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to Trinity Hospice caretakers and staff for all of the love, compassion, and care that they bestowed on Allen and a special thank you to Yvonne Hudson for her kindness.
Born in Newport News, VA, he was the son of the late Allen Moore Hawkes, Sr. and Isabell Cecil Hawkes. He was a graduate of Midlands Technical College and was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. While living in Virginia, he was an active member of the Troutville Baptist Church where he was a mentor with the Royal Ambassadors. Teaching children about Jesus was very important to Allen as he was strong in his faith. He also worked as a Computer Programmer for several different banks in Virginia and North Carolina and later became a Bank Manager. He was a loving husband of 55 years to Jackie Bridgmon Hawkes and was a wonderful father to his children. He enjoyed vacationing with his family in Myrtle Beach and loved to play golf. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served as a Sergeant during the Vietnam War. He was awarded two Bronze Stars for Heroism in Battle, the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, and other numerous medals and awards while serving his country. Upon his return from Vietnam, he was a Drill Sergeant at Fort Jackson.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Jackie Bridgmon Hawkes; a son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Jaime Hawkes of Aiken, SC; a son-in-law, Chuck Smith of Charlotte, NC; two grandchildren, Myranda and Brian Christian and numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kimberly Diane Hawkes Smith.
