James “Aiken” Owens, 31, of Denmark, South Carolina, passed away at his home on Tuesday, May 5, 2026.
Born on September 17, 1994, in Columbia, South Carolina, James was the beloved son of Franklin Scott Griffin and Mary Lynn Knight Griffin. He was a high school graduate and was known by all who loved him as a kind-hearted person with a beautiful smile that could brighten any room. Aiken never met a stranger and loved everyone he encountered.
Aiken found joy in the simple things in life. He especially loved Scooby-Doo, Puppy Dog Pals, and spinning hats on his finger — little things that brought laughter and happiness to those around him. His gentle spirit, caring heart, and playful personality will forever be remembered by family and friends.
He leaves to cherish his memory his parents, Franklin Scott Griffin and Mary Lynn Knight Griffin; his sister, Courtney Marie Griffin of Denmark; his maternal grandparents, Robert Knight and the late Lynn Mitchell; his paternal grandparents, Dorothy Still and the late Benjamin Franklin Griffin Jr.; aunt, Joanie (Shane) Spell, Jean (Ashley) Thomas, Christina Griffin; uncles Dean (Trina) Griffin, Shawn (April) Still; cousins, Cody Spell, Kyle (Ciera) Spell, Savannah Griffin, Kayla (Blake) Hutto, Holly Thomas, Lex Thomas, Rocio (Franco) Arguello, Linda (Jesus) Martinez, Miugel Gallegos, Paulo Gallegos, Deanna Angels and Pilar Martinez
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Benjamin Franklin Griffin, Sr., and Nellie Mae Griffin; maternal grandparents, Mary and Lynwood Mitchell, Theo Knight and Robbie Knight and an uncle, David Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Bamberg Church of God with Reverend Herb Collins, Susan Collins, and Steve Griffin officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will follow in the Denmark Cemetery.
Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Aiken's loving spirit and precious memories will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
